Hangouts? >> Because horn horn people are different to the other people, I think. I think it’s a really special community of Uh and I’m a tuba player, so I’m just a very very low horn player. But whenever Sarah I’ve been different horn events with you, I just think that the horn players of the world are special and wonderful and deserve a place where they can come together.

I took this I stuck on my horn hangouts Oh and the brilliant film brilliant films there Yeah all sorts of cool stuff. I wonder who you stole that from. I’ve got something very cool I just have to share with you because um uh this was found you know about my my ensemble the Havana Horns. Tim you know the
Havana Horns you love the Havana Horns. Most of the Havana Horns are now living outside of Cuba because times are really bad in Cuba right now. Please if there’s anything any of you can do to support Cuban musicians do it because things are really really rough. But most thanks to Mozarti Mambo most of the the musicians are living outside the country which is great but it’s also sad because it means they have to leave their leave their their families and their country that they love so much um to actually survive.
But um there are still a few of my Havana Horns one of them’s watching Susanna I just said um uh a few of the others were walking down the Obispo which is the pedestrian road going through Old Havana where all the tourist shops are and they saw everyone’s trying to sell everything they have in Havana right now just to make some money and there was a guy with a blanket and he had metal he was selling pieces of metal you can imagine what’s coming now.
He had pieces of metal with old taps and old saucepans and things and my two Kevin and Omar they were walking down Obispo and they saw this. Now look at that hang on. It and and and some of it and they said oh it looks like a French horn. You guys should be taking screenshots of this right now because this is historical.
And and they said okay let let let’s have a look. The valve caps work the there’s still some rubber on the on the on the valves. I think someone took the bell off to make a to make a lamp or And and the mouth pipe probably But you know what? It’s an Alexander. It’s an Alexander horn. And
I I showed it to Philip. And thank you to Alexanders, they are helping sponsor the horn hangouts again, which is great. And we’re very grateful for that. We’re going to talk about mouthpieces. And the reason we know it’s so old is can you see here? It’s like you a little Yoda hiding behind there. And um and the really old horns were made with these with these slides. And this must have been before the war first World War. So no one has any idea how this
Alexander horn got to Havana. We think probably via Russia because really we can’t imagine how else it could have got there. And someone left it there and probably used it for a lamp. And they were selling this for 1.50 on the street. Oh, I shouldn’t have said that cuz I want Alexanders to pay much more for it.

And also because I’m I’m a officially a low horn player but I have to play high as well. I needed a mouthpiece that will go you know won’t get stuck in the middle or will help me or get stuck in the middle but you know what
I mean. So saying those things to you guys were genius. Remember Bertrand just sort of took one he went he disappeared. I don’t know where he went and I heard a and then he came back he said try this one. And that was it. That was the one. I don’t know what Still I don’t know to this day what he did with it, but

Our Academist, Robin, she said she remembered taking a selfie with all the Um and then Christian Christian Lindberg fell asleep in the after in the after and we left him in the in the in the chat room so that

Uh so, I’m just excited to be back with you all and to of course to interview someone like you, who’s as you see is an absolute sweetheart and an amazing horn Um we will then have a break for the summer. And then we’re thinking about what to do in September. Now, I need your feedback as well because
I could just go around looking for great horn players and interviewing them. On the other hand, I like the interactive side of it. Do you too, too?
